Doorfarer

Connect Doorfarer to your assistant.

The nearest airport isn't always the best one. Doorfarer compares every airport within reach of your home, adds the train, bus or drive to each, and finds the trip that's really cheapest or fastest, door to door. Free, no account.

It finds flights and the way to the airport. It doesn't book hotels or plan multi-city trips.

Setup takes two minutes, once. After that you just ask your assistant about a trip, and it asks Doorfarer.

The address you'll paste, wherever it asks for one:

https://doorfarer.com/mcp

Which assistant do you use?

Pick one for the quickest way in. The steps for each are below.

Chat apps

Claude

On claude.ai and the Claude desktop app, any plan (the free plan allows one custom connector).

The button opens Claude's own "Add custom connector" screen with the name and address filled in (you need to be signed in). You confirm there; nothing is added until you do. If it doesn't open the screen, use the steps:

  1. Go to Customize → Connectors.
  2. Click + Add, then Add custom connector.
  3. Name it Doorfarer, paste the address above and click Continue.
  4. Under Authentication choose No sign in, then click Add.
  5. In a chat, click + at the lower left, then Connectors, and switch Doorfarer on.

On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds it under Organization settings → Connectors; then you click Connect under Customize → Connectors.

ChatGPT

Needs a plan that allows custom MCP servers (Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu today). If you don't see the option, your plan or workspace doesn't allow it yet.

ChatGPT has no link that fills the form in for you, so copy the address first.

  1. Go to chatgpt.com/plugins.
  2. Click the + button, then Add custom MCP server.
  3. Name it Doorfarer. Under Connection, paste the address above.
  4. Choose no authentication, read the warning and click I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin.
  5. Install the plugin. In a new chat, type @ in the prompt box and pick Doorfarer.

Steps checked against the official Claude and OpenAI docs on 29 October 2026. Both apps change their menus now and then; if a step looks different, the address is still all you need.

Mistral Le Chat

Adding a connector is allowed for the account's administrator; on Free, Pro and Student plans that is you.

Mistral's own guide
  1. In Le Chat open the Connectors page.
  2. Click + Add Connector and choose the Custom MCP Connector tab.
  3. Name it Doorfarer, paste the address above as the Server URL and click Connect.

Grok

Open Grok's connectors
  1. Go to grok.com/connectors.
  2. Click New Connector, then choose Custom.
  3. Paste the address above as the MCP server URL and finish the form. No sign-in is needed.

On a Business or Enterprise plan an administrator may need to allow it first.

Perplexity

Custom remote connectors are offered on some paid plans; which ones changes, so check yours.

Open Perplexity
  1. Open your account settings and go to Connectors.
  2. Click + Custom connector and choose Remote.
  3. Name it Doorfarer, paste the address above, and leave sign-in off.

VS Code

Needs VS Code on this computer. It opens VS Code and asks you to confirm. Or by hand:

  1. Open the Command Palette and run MCP: Add Server.
  2. Choose HTTP and paste the address above.
  3. Name it Doorfarer. Then in Copilot Chat's agent mode, turn Doorfarer on in the tools list.

Cursor

Install in Cursor

Needs Cursor on this computer; it opens Cursor and asks you to confirm. Or by hand:

  1. Open Cursor's settings and go to Tools & MCP (older versions: MCP).
  2. Click Add a custom MCP server; it opens mcp.json.
  3. Add {"mcpServers": {"doorfarer": {"url": "https://doorfarer.com/mcp"}}} and save.

Claude Code

Run this once in a terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http doorfarer https://doorfarer.com/mcp

Add --scope user to use it in every project.

LM Studio

Add to LM Studio

Needs LM Studio 0.3.17 or newer on this computer; it asks you to confirm. A model that calls tools is required.

Goose

Add to Goose

Needs Goose on this computer. Or by hand: run goose configure, choose Add Extension, then Remote Extension (Streaming HTTP), and paste the address.

Something else

Any assistant or app that supports remote MCP servers ("custom connector", "MCP server", "tools") can use Doorfarer: look for where it adds one, and paste this address. No sign-in, no key.

Kind: streamable HTTP (sometimes called "HTTP" or "Streaming HTTP"). Authentication: none. In a config file it looks like {"mcpServers": {"doorfarer": {"url": "https://doorfarer.com/mcp"}}}; Gemini CLI wants httpUrl instead of url.

Three things to try

I live in New Haven. Cheapest way to Lisbon in March, about a week, two of us?

Doorfarer checks Boston, New York, Newark and the rest, adds the train to each, and ranks the whole trips.

I'm in Hartford and I'll drive to the airport. Fastest way to Rome in May, ten days?

With a car, the drive and the airport's parking go into the price instead of a train.

One way from Philadelphia to Dublin, sometime in April. What's cheapest?

One-way trips work too; the answer shows one flight and no way back.

Something odd?

Tell your assistant: send feedback to Doorfarer, and say what looked wrong. It reaches us directly, no email needed.
