Door-to-door trips from your home.
The nearest airport isn't always the best one. Doorfarer compares every airport within reach of your home, including the train or bus there, and finds the trip that's really cheapest or fastest, door to door.

How it works
- You say where you live and where you're going. In your own words, to the assistant you already use: "New Haven to Lisbon, a week in March." Dates are optional.
- Every airport in reach. Not just the nearest one: every airport you can get to by train, bus or car. From New Haven that's eight, from Hartford to Philadelphia.
- Every date and every flight. Recent fares from each of those airports, for each date that fits your trip. Often a couple of thousand options.
- The way there, added. The train or bus fare and time to each airport, or the drive and the airport's parking, there and back. Now a far airport is compared fairly with a near one.
- Three picks, door to door. The cheapest, the fastest and the best balance of both, each with a booking link and a note on how we searched.
Connect it to your assistant
Doorfarer works inside the AI assistant you already use. No app, no account. The address is:

- ChatGPT. At chatgpt.com/plugins: + → Add custom MCP server. Name Doorfarer, paste the address, no authentication, Create as a plugin. In a chat, type @ and pick Doorfarer.
- Ask in your own words. Where you live, where you want to go, roughly when. Dates are optional: without them Doorfarer looks at the next three months.

Questions
What is Doorfarer?
A trip finder for AI assistants. You say where you live and where you want to go; it finds every airport you can reach by train, bus or car, prices the flights from each, adds the way there, and ranks the whole trips by price, by travel time, or a balance of both.
Is it cheaper to fly from a farther airport?
Often, yes. A bigger airport an hour or two further away can have fares a hundred dollars or more below the nearest one, enough to pay for the train and still come out ahead. Sometimes the trip there eats the saving. Doorfarer adds the train, bus or drive to every airport, so you see which it is for your trip.
How do I find the cheapest airport near me?
Compare whole trips, not flights: the fare from each airport you can reach, plus getting there and back. By hand that's one flight search per airport and a timetable for each. With Doorfarer connected, ask your assistant "I live in Hartford, what's the cheapest way to Rome in May?" and it does the comparison for you.
How is it different from Google Flights or Skyscanner?
Those search from the airports you choose and stop at the airport. Doorfarer starts at your home: it adds the train or bus to each airport, so a cheap flight from a far airport is compared fairly with a dearer one nearby. It also tells you how it searched. Prices come from recent Aviasales searches; the booking page shows the live price.
Does it include the train or bus to the airport?
Yes. For each airport it adds the train or bus fare and travel time from your town, there and back, per person. Where a ground leg is estimated rather than looked up, the answer says so.
Can I drive and park at the airport instead?
Yes. Say you'll drive, and each airport's drive time, fuel and long-stay parking for the days you're away go into the price; tolls are not included. For a home in the US, where most people drive, car, taxi and public transport compete unless you say otherwise.
Can it find the cheapest place to go, not just one city?
Yes. Name a country, a region or a whole continent, like "somewhere in Portugal" or "anywhere in Europe", and it finds the cheapest places there, door to door.
Which AI assistants does it work with?
Claude and ChatGPT, through their custom connector settings; ChatGPT needs a plan that allows custom MCP servers. Any other app that supports remote MCP servers can use it too, with the address https://doorfarer.com/mcp. How to connect.
Are the prices live?
They come from recent searches on Aviasales, and the answer says how old each fare is. The booking link opens a live search for the same flights and dates, where the final price shows; it can differ.
Is it free?
Yes. There is no account and no fee.
How does Doorfarer make money?
Through affiliate links. If you book after clicking a booking link, the partner may pay us a commission. You pay the same price, and results are ranked by price and travel time, never by commission. More on how we are paid.
When shouldn't I use it?
When you've already picked your airport, or for multi-city trips. Then a regular flight search is quicker. It doesn't book hotels either. Doorfarer is also still adding home towns: if yours isn't covered yet, the answer says so.
